Christmas Time Is Here

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

What a wonderful time of the year! Friends, family, time together, gifts, memories, pictures, programs and special songs... but most importantly, a time to meditate on the birth of our Lord, THE Lord, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who was born in a manager, the lowest of all places, yet born as a King and Savior. I love the song, "Mary, Did You Know?" ...
This child that you've delivered Will soon deliver you... Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?.... And when you  kiss your little baby, You've kissed the face of God.
What an incredible thought.  I've been reading through Luke and I love how Mary "treasured up in her heart" the things she was revealed, heard, or saw. I would love to grow in a heart that treasures up and ponders on the Word of our Lord.

On a lighter note, Dave and I have been a little impatient with gift giving for one another this year! haha We decided this week to give each other 1 gift everyday (rather than just wait until the end of the week like most people do). It's actually been really fun...and funny.

I've also made a new rule for our home that Dave is not allowed to touch his presents anymore from here on out. In the past 2 years he has correctly guessed almost every gift that I let him shake, hold, or even give a hint about.  Just an example of how sick Dave is... this summer I was going to surprise him on a date and take him putt-putt. We hadn't done that in months, nor had we discussed it at all. He asked for a hint about what we were doing and I said, "Well...It's green and black."  His first guess? Putt-putt. Who in the world would guess that?!
This week Dave took one of his gifts, which was in a hard plastic tube, and started shaking it.  "Ummm...it's headphones, isn't it?"  ...Yes, it was head phones. *sigh*

Last night we celebrated with his Mom and immediate family. We had a great time and are looking forward to Friday with his dad and immediately family and this weekend with my parents!
